Congress pays tributes to Dr. Oscar Fernandes

The passing away of one of the most dedicated & loyal Congress Leader Dr. Oscar Fernandes is a big loss to the Country. Congress Party lost a hardworking soldier and decisive leader. He worked tirelessly to strengthen the Party across India. The Konkani-speaking Dr. Oscar Fernandes had a special connection with Goa. I have lost a mentor, guide & friend stated Congress President Girish Chodankar at the Condolence meeting organized by Goa Pradesh Congress Committee to pay tributes to veteran Congress Leader & former Union Minister Dr. Oscar Fernandes.

He will be remembered for his love of Konkani, decent politics and respect for Goan culture. Dr. Oscar Fernandes always helped Goa in his capacity as Union Transport minister and also during his tenure as Labour Minister of Goa. The ESI Hospital at Margao became reality only because of Dr. Oscar Fernandes. This hospital turned out to be the Saviour of thousands of Covid Patients said Girish Chodankar.

Formar Union Minister Adv. Ramakant Kalap while paying his respects said that Dr. Oscar was man of different disposition, a gentle, humble and always smiling. Recalling his Parliament experience he said he always exuded friendly vibes. I considered him as an Asset of the Congress Party who always made dialogue with everyone alike as it’s necessary for democracy. He always enjoyed confidence in Congress Party. He had love for Indian Culture, Yoga and Classical Singing and was passionate about Indian Classical Dance.

Curtorim MLA Reginald Lourenco recalled him as an astute gentleman and a core Congressman. He stated it’s important to learn from his style of politics. He always advised me to be patient and remain calm.

Congress Leaders Arch. Tulio De Souza, Rudolf Fernandes, former MLA Victor Gonsalves,
North Goa DCC President Vijay Bhike, Panaji Corporator and Block president Joel Andrade, Seva Dal Chief Shankar Kirlapalkar remembered Oscar Fernandes as a party loyalist who remained faithful to the party till the very end and paid their tributes.

Ex-MLA Agnelo Fernandes, Congress Functionaries Sameer Raikar, Seby Menezes, Nilesh Gomes, Ashwin De Souza, Welvyn Menezes and others were also present and offered tributes to the departed leader.
